Controlling Charge Entry Columns

During Charge Entry, there are multiple columns of data to be entered.  Depending on each practice or specialty, not all columns are necessary.  If you find yourself constantly pressing RETURN just to skip through a field, you can set up parameters to do automatic skipping.

As a further refinement of customization, you can define multiple sets of parameters per database.  This multiple set feature is useful if the practice has different types of charges, each requiring different fields.

Different types of charges might include:

Type

Description

Regular OV

Dr/Pl constantly change, so need to stop there

Phys Therapy

Dr/Pl doesn’t change, so can skip all after AMT

Surgeries

Needs Authorization, so stop at NOTE

Here is program to control which steps to stop at:  TRX Menu, #99.

Select which column to stop at during Fast-Track Entry mode   14

Use Date of Service as TRX date whenever Possible Y/N         Y

Have Diagnosis carry forward to next TRX Y/N                  Y

Explanation:

·         The columns across the top represent which fields are available during  Chg entry.
Enter a Y under each column that you wish to stop at.

·         Fast-Track:  After entering info on the first chg line, most of the info will carry forward to the other TRX’s on the same day.  Therefore you can choose a different column to stop at for chg lines 2-10.  For example, if you only need to enter SVC, MOD,  Diagnosis on lines 2-10, then enter 14 as the Fast-Track column.  (14 corresponds to Diag column).  While entering lines 2-10, you can always use up arrow to go back 1 line and have access to every field on the previous lines.

·         Use Date of Service:  Normally, TRX’s are stored with the Dayfile Working Date. However, some clients like the TRX date to be same as Date of Service whenever possible..

·         After entering a diagnosis on chg line 1, you can have that diagnosis carry forward to the next line automatically.  If you want to force each subsequent diagnosis to be blank, requiring manual input, then enter N.
