CyberMed can create export files of patient information that can be used by MS-Word as Mail Merge data.  These files are ASCII delimited files.

 

Names of Files created :

·        Rcllet.asc       From Recall system

·        Pltt00.asc       From Letters to Patients.( #2 from Reports Menu)

 

Transfer from UNIX to PC:

FTP the files from Linux/UNIX to your PC’s local drive.  Suggest that you rename the files to have a  TXT extension.  MS-WORD treats TXT’s better

 

 

Composing your boilerplate document:

The standard letter should already be composed, leaving space for the patient’s name, address, etc.  You will need to use  Tools , Mail Merge to bring up certain functions to allow you to insert data fields.

 

Running and Creating Letters:

After your boilerplate is composed, then you must Tools, Mail Merge, create the actual letters with the patient information.  When you create, you have a choice of doing just a few names or all names. Then just use standard MS-Word print functions to send letters to the laser printer.
